THE LOWER EAST SIDE (LES) FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS celebrates its seventeenth year of bringing together under one roof, in just three days, over 100 performing arts organizations, local and international celebrities, independent artists, poets, playwrights, musicians, puppeteers, film makers and many others - all of whom reside, work or have their roots in the culturally diverse, willfully anarchistic Lower East Side - for New York City's most diverse FREE 3-day festival, from Friday, May 25 through Sunday, May 27, at Theater for the New City (155 1st Avenue, between E. 9th and 10th Sts.) in Manhattan. OBIE Award-winning actress Crystal Field is co-founder and Artistic Director of Theater for the New City.

The works of the late, iconoclastic downtown theatre star, Warhol favorite and trailblazer of 'glitter rock,' Jackie Curtis will be featured in the dynamic new revue JUKEBOX JACKIE -- conceived and directed by Tony Award winner Scott Wittman.

BT Shea will present the next episode in his ongoing serial about the life and times of MargOH! Channing, on March 30th, 2012, at Dixon Place(161 Chrystie Street, between Rivington and Delancey, NYC) NYC's Laboratory of Performance.

Occupy Broadway set up in a privately owned public space (POPS) near Times Square, turning once blandified space into a space for cultural production.

Coming quick and sprightly on the heels of the smash-hit movie theater presentation of Stephen Sondheim's COMPANY, Shakespeare's Globe London Cinema Series is setting out to do for Shakespeare and classical theatre what COMPANY did for Sondheim and musicals with THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR. Beginning on Monday, hundreds of select movie theaters nationwide will present a special showing of Shakespeare's coy and daring comedy THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR as the inaugural showing of The Globe London Cinema Series, and, with it, we, as the avid audience, will be ushered into a new era for Shakespeare - both live and on film. How easily and affordably we may now witness world-class entertainment from the very front rows of the finest playhouses in the world in the way only a special event cinema broadcast such as Shakespeare's Globe London Cinema Series presentation of THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR can provide! Such are the joys of traveling to the nearest multiplex near you hosting a Shakespeare's Globe presentation - such as on Monday at 6:30 PM with MERRY WIVES - as opposed to a transatlantic flight and accommodations in the UK were you to try to catch the show live and in person (with the hope to score some rare tickets). Plus, you can't beat these seats - or the sights and sounds only the real, true home of W.S. - The Globe - can supply.

Over the next 12 months, Performance Space 122 will leave our 30-year home temporarily while our building undergoes a much-needed interior transformation initiated and funded by the City of New York, the Department of Cultural Affairs, New York City Council. Designed by Deborah Berke and Partners, renovations to the interior will be aimed at bringing the building up to meet current code requirements and LEED silver standards.
