National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, celebrates the opening of its 81st Rolling World Premiere (RWP): Nomad Motel by Carla Ching. The Roll kicks off at Member Theaters City Theatre Company (May 18-June 3 in Pittsburgh), followed by Horizon Theatre Company (September 28-October 21 in Atlanta), and Unicorn Theatre (January 23-February 27, 2019 in Kansas City, MO). Nomad Motel was presented at NNPN's 2016 National Showcase of New Plays, hosted by the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Texas at Austin.

A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC Comes to BoHo Theatre

BoHo Theatre continues its 2018 season with Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's classic musical A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, inspired by the Ingmar Bergman film SMILES OF A SUMMER NIGHT. Intimately staged with a focus on character and relationships, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC challenges audiences and artists alike with its complex musicality and darkly comedic themes of love and longing. The production is directed by Linda Fortunato, who has previously worked with BoHo on NEXT TO NORMAL, PARADE, and KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN, with music direction by fellow BoHo alum Tom Vendafreddo (THE SPITFIRE GRILL).

1812 Productions Presents a Philadelphia Premiere Comedy HOPE AND GRAVITY

1812 Productions will close its 21st season with the Philadelphia Premiere of Michael Hollinger's Hope and Gravity. After a 20-year personal and professional friendship, Producing Artistic Director Jennifer Childs will direct Hollinger's work, his first-ever production with 1812. Hope and Gravity will play from April 26 thru May 20 at Plays and Players Theatre. Previews begin April 26. Opening Night will be Wednesday, May 2 at 7:00pm. Theatre Exile closes its 2018/2019 season with the World Premiere of Michael Hollinger's Sing the Body Electric. Jess is tanking in Physics, so her mom hires Lloyd to help her pass. But she'd rather study his son, the survivor of a lightning strike that killed his girlfriend a year ago, and tattooed his body with elegant scars. When Lloyd and Mom hit it off, these two broken families are bound ever closer, inexorably -- with explosive results. An intricate, atmospheric tale of love, sex, and the unseen forces that draw us together and drive us apart.
