The New York Dance and Performance Awards (The Bessies), NYC's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, celebrates a milestone 30th anniversary this year. Today, the 36 nominees for the 2013-14 season were announced at a press conference by members of The Bessies Selection Committee. The nominations (listed below) were selected by an independent committee of 40 dance industry professionals. Produced in partnership with Dance/NYC, Bessie Award categories include Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Production, Outstanding Visual Design, Outstanding Music Composition or Sound Design and Outstanding Revival.

Jersey Tap Fest, NJ's sole dance festival featuring world-class tap faculty and extravaganza, celebrates four years today, August 22-25, 2013 in Bloomfield, NJ. The four-day festival will offer more than 30 tap dance classes and a main stage celebration event TAP 'N TIME. The Garden State tap dance festival also provides the public various opportunities to participate and interact with tap dancing through a jam session, student showcase and faculty meet and greet.

The American Tap Dance Foundation (ATDF) is an acclaimed non-profit organization “committed to establishing and legitimizing Tap Dance as a vital component of American Dance through creation, presentation, education, and preservation. Charles “Honi” Coles, Brenda Bufalino, and Tony Waag founded ATDF in 1986, and today, just 17 years young, the foundation organizes tap festivals, ensembles, concert performances, national tours, scholarships, awards ceremonies, and archives – in addition to their classes, workshops, and “tap talks” at the American Tap Dance Center.
