Profiles in History Announces New Auction, Featuring Action Films

Profiles in History, run by Joe Maddalena, has announced that items from Star Trek, Aliens, Terminator 2: Judgment Day and The Big Lebowski will be up for auction at 'Drama, Action, Romance: The Hollywood Auction,' this weekend, Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16. The Jewish Museum and the Film Society of Lincoln Center will present the 22nd annual New York Jewish Film Festival at the Film Society's Walter Reade Theater, Jan. 9-24, 2013. The festival's 45 features and shorts from 9 countries - 23 screening in their world, U.S. or New York premieres - provide a diverse global perspective on the Jewish experience. Many film screenings will be followed by filmmakers and special guests in onstage discussions.

On November 26, 1986, the science fiction blockbuster Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home was released by Paramount Pictures. It was the fourth feature film based on the Star Trek science fiction television series and completed the story arc begun in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and continued in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. Autism Speaks, the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization, announced today the launch of "Sound Off For Autism Speaks". This exciting fundraising effort will give fans the opportunity to order a limited number of custom-recorded messages from Ed Asner, Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Carrie Fisher, Tom Hanks, Derek Jeter, Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner, Patrick Stewart and Betty White in return for a $299 donation. All proceeds will support autism research and advocacy efforts.

Stars of David is a world premiere musical based on Abigail Pogrebin's book, Stars of David: Prominent Jews Talk About Being Jewish. Nancy is a journalist who doesn't feel a connection with her Jewish heritage and decides to embark on a book project to interview well-known figures about their cultural identity. The interviews result in words, videos and musical portrayals of Gloria Steinem, Leonard Nimoy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Joan Rivers, Aaron Sorkin, Tony Kushner, Fran Drescher and more.

Tonight, October 11, 2012, at New York's Symphony Space, the Chuns continue their tribute to the Hungarian composer with "Folk Inflections with Angela and Jennifer Chun," a program featuring a second set of selections of the Bartok duos along with some of Luciano Berio's Duetti per due violini, which were written in homage to Bartok; Edmund Rubbra's Phantasy for two violins and piano; and Bartok's Roumanian Folk Dances for violin and piano, which the performers have arranged for two violins and piano.
