I'm reminded of the old joke: It's only funny till someone gets hurt; then it's hilarious. Jacobean audiences liked the stage littered with corpses at the end; we settle for one or two corpses and people's lives shattered. And that this show certainly delivers. There may not be much depth to it, much in the way of a philosophical point, but it's absorbing to see.

It's a decadent jewel gleaming with sinister possibilities, and thus, far removed from the current trend toward sunny shows with predictably happy endings. Though set in 1928, it manages to perfectly capture the current mood of cynicism that seems to have run rampant through our country over the course of the last fifteen years. New Line Theatre's current presentation of THE WILD PARTY is a deliriously engaging experience, easily making it one of the best productions of the year.

4th Wall Theatre in Bloomfield, NJ has tapped Kate Swan, actress/dancer (Broadway's Beauty & the Beast), turned director/choreographer, to direct the final show of their 2008-2009 Season, The Wild Party.

Auditions for Totally 80's!, Loki's multi-media tribute to the 1980's, are on March 30th with call backs on April 4.

The 2009 Festival of New American Musicals, a four-month musical theatre festival, will be held in April through July, 2009, throughout Southern California. Marcia Seligson, Bob Klein, and Linda Shusett are the Executive Producers of the second annual Festival.

The Columbia Stages production of The Wild Party has just announced the casting for the show, which runs April 18-22 at the Theatre at Riverside Church.

The creative and production team behind the Columbia Stages production of The Wild Party has been announced. The show, which features music and lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa, as well as book by LaChiusa and George C. Wolfe based on a poem by Joseph Moncure March, will run at the Theatre at Riverside Church, at 91 Claremont Ave, April 18-22.

Columbia Stages, the award-winning producing arm of Columbia University's Theatre Division, has announced its 2006-2007 season.
