During the first week of November, the Mariinsky Theatre returns to the UK for an operatic showcase of Wagner's Ring in Birmingham at the historic Hippodrome and three operas originally written for the Mariinsky including the most recent Levsha (The Left-hander) by Rodion Shchedrin. With a 300-strong troop of musicians, soloists and chorus starting the tour in Cardiff with Prokofiev's Betrothal in a Monastery, Valery Gergiev proceeds to London to present Russia's national epic Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov followed by the UK premiere of The Lefthander, both in concert versions at the Barbican.

A first look at stage and screen star Imelda Staunton in rehearsal for the new Chichester Festival Theatre production of Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim's acclaimed showbiz musical GYPSY is now available to view.

Gypsy opens at Chichester this autumn with Imelda Staunton leading a stellar cast as the indomitable Mama Rose, widely acknowledged to be one of the greatest female musical roles.

The Almeida Theatre has announced its new Winter-Spring 2014-15 season, featuring Rupert Goold's celebrated RSC production of THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, starring Ian McDiarmid as Shylock and Susannah Fielding reprising her role as Portia; Robert Icke directing Tobias Menzies in an intimate staging of Wallace Shawn's THE FEVER AT THE MAY FAIR HOTEL; the World Premiere of Mike Bartlett's play GAME, directed by Sacha Wares and designed by Miriam Buether in a radical reconfiguration of the theater; and Simon Stephens reimagining Bizet's CARMEN in the UK premiere of CARMEN DISRUPTION, helmed by Michael Longhurst.

The world premiere of Alecky Blythe's new play inspired by the 2011 London riots, directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins, LITTLE REVOLUTION, will play the Almeida Theatre. This is Alecky's first new London production after the success of London Road at the National Theatre.

Casting is announced for Our Town at the Almeida Theatre. Award-winning US actor-director David Cromer will direct and perform in this intimate version of Thornton Wilder's iconic American play. The cast will also include Michael Ajao, Paul Bigley, Arthur Byrne, Sidney Cole, Kate Dickie, Laura Elsworthy, Anna Francolini, Matthew Jacobs-Morgan, Daniel Kendrick, Simon Lennon, Jessica Lester, Richard Lumsden, Annette McLaughlin, Christopher Staines, Rhashan Stoneand David Walmsley.

Television star and former country music singer John Schneider was spotted attending ABSINTHE at Caesars Palace on Friday, Aug. 15. Schneider, best known for his roles as 'Bo Duke' on the television series The Dukes of Hazard and 'Jonathan Kent' on Smallville, met with The Gazillionaire and Penny Pibbets following the performance to share his enthusiasm for the show and pose for photos with the outlandish duo. Casting is announced for the world premiere of Alecky Blythe's new play inspired by the 2011 London riots, directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins. This is Alecky's first new London production after the success of London Road at the National Theatre.

The Almeida Theatre today announces its body of work for the autumn: a World Premiere of a new work by Alecky Blythe will be directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins and the London Premiere of David Cromer's acclaimed production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town.

The West End production of the critically acclaimed Good People will play a limited run of ten weeks at the Noel Coward Theatre. Performances began April 10th and will continue until June 14th. Jonathan Kent's production of David Lindsay-Abaire's award-winning play received universal praise when it made its UK premiere at Hampstead Theatre on March 5th. Old Vic Productions and Hampstead Theatre Productions are delighted to announce the full cast for West End transfer of critically acclaimed Good People which will play a limited season of just ten weeks at the No?l Coward Theatre from 10th April, as previously announced.

This will be Robin Ticciati's first Glyndebourne Festival as Music Director. He is only the seventh conductor to hold the post in Glyndebourne's 80- year history, following in the distinguished line of Fritz Busch, Vittorio Gui, John Pritchard, Bernard Haitink, Andrew Davis and Vladimir Jurowski.

Sinead Cusack and Clare Higgins are to play sisters Polly Wyeth and Silda Grauman respectively, in The Old Vic's UK premiere of Jon Robin Baitz's acclaimed play, Other Desert Cities, directed by Lindsay Posner. Further casting will be announced shortly.

It joins GYPSY, with Imelda Staunton, as one of the big musicals of the summer, and features Jamie Parker, Clare Foster, Sophie Thompson and Peter Polycarpou

According to the Daily Mail, Kevin Whately and Lara Pulver are in talks to join the cast of GYPSY, led by Imelda Staunton as Rose at the Chichester Festival Theatre this October. Whately would play Herbie, Rose's love interest and manager, and Pulver would star as Louise Hovick, a.k.a. Gypsy Rose Lee. The production will be directed by Jonathan Kent.

The full cast is announced for the UK premiere of Jon Robin Baitz's acclaimed play, Other Desert Cities, opening at The Old Vic on Monday 24 March with previews from Thursday 13 March. Directed by Lindsay Posner, the new production will star Sinead Cusack, Peter Egan, Clare Higgins, Daniel Lapaine and Martha Plimpton.

Hampstead Theatre just announced that Imelda Staunton will be joined by Lorraine Ashbourne, Matthew Barker, Angel Coulby, Lloyd Owen and June Watson in the UK premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire's play Good People, directed by Jonathan Kent.
