Lincoln Center Theater will present THE CITY OF CONVERSATION by Anthony Giardina, directed by Doug Hughes, with previews beginning Thursday, April 10. The show will open Monday, May 5 at 6:45 p.m. in the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, 150 West 65th Street.

'I'm not a warhorse kind of singer,' mezzo Susan Graham states matter-of-factly. 'A. I'm a mezzo. B. I'm not a character mezzo. C. I'm not a contralto. The iconic opera repertoire for mezzos, Amneris (AIDA), Azucena (IL TROVATORE), even Eboli (DON CARLO)--those kinds of roles aren't my stock and trade because my voice sits high and has a different timbre.' Well, what then is her milieu? It's the likes of Handel, who composed several of the arias she has been singing this winter at the Met, as one of the stars of THE ENCHANTED ISLAND, a kind of Baroque 'jukebox opera.' But it's also Rodgers & Hammerstein's THE KING & I, which she is doing this June at the Chatelet in Paris.

Today, March 13 - 16, Pontine Theatre presents the final production of it's premiere Cafe-Lyceum Series. This program, FAMILIAR FIELDS: The Community of Sarah Orne Jewett, is based on the life and work of the 19th century South Berwick, Maine author. The presentation explores issues of community as reflected in Jewett's stories, and the ways in which her regional portraits speak about the essential New England character The presentation combines food, friends, and discussion along with excerpts from Pontine's original adaptation of Jewett's The Country of the Pointed Firs, and Dunnet Landing Stories.

Rich Girl, a modern day take on the classic play and film The Heiress, is a clever new comedy about women, men, mothers, and money – but not necessarily in that order.

The arts in Philadelphia continue to be fueled by some of the most talented versatile professional actors in the Delaware Valley. I was happy to literally catch up to one of the busiest leading ladies, Jennie Eisenhower, who will soon start rehearsals for her role as Elaine Harper at the Walnut Street Theater's upcoming production of Arsenic and Old Lace.

Casey Stangl, director of last season's Anastaisa Krupnik, returns to direct this adaptation by David Wood of the beloved children's book by Roald Dahl, James and the Giant Peach. The show runs tonight, Feb. 7-23 at South Coast Repertory on the Julianne Argyros Stage.

Directed by Dennis Lickteig, The Heiress is truly timeless, winning Tony Awards in 1947 and 1995. It will run for 11 performances (tongiht, January 17-February 2, 2014) at the Lucie Stern Theater, located at 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto.

Metropolitan Playhouse, Obie Award winner for exploring American culture through theater, hosts The Gilded Stage Festival, the theater's ninth annual Living Literature Festival of performances inspired by the lives and works of American writers and creators. The Festival is a collection of nine new works by artists and companies from near and far, taking their inspiration from the writings, causes, and lives that defined The Gilded Age. Artistic Director Bain Boehlke today announced the Jungle's 2014 season, continuing the theater's trademark presentation of timeless classics drawn from a rich theatrical heritage, as well as recent acclaimed works. The diverse line-up features the regional premieres of an imaginative one-woman play as well as the 2013 Obie Award-winning Best New Play, a rare Tony Award-winning American masterpiece from 1947, a reprise of a high-camp, over-the-top farce (back by popular demand!) and a touching multigenerational tale.

Simple Machine Theatre stages Jeffrey Hatcher's adaptation of Henry James' Gothic thriller at two historic Boston houses, providing an extra dose of authenticity. Under the direction of M. Bevin O'Gara, Stephen Libby and Anna Waldron give spellbinding performances that will scare the bejeezers out of you!

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music's (CCM) celebration of Benjamin Britten at 100 continues with the Cincinnati premiere of the composer's penultimate opera Owen Wingrave, running Nov. 21-24 in Patricia Corbett Theater. CCM welcomes guest artist and alumnus Johannes Muller-Stosch to the podium for this Mainstage Series production, which features stage direction by CCM Professor of Voice Kenneth Shaw. The opera will be sung in English with supertitles.

From tonight, November 8 through November 23, 2013, Simple Machine proudly presents Henry James' The Turn of the Screw, adapted for the stage by Jeffrey Hatcher and directed by M. Bevin O'Gara.
