HERE presents Keep Your Electric Eye On Me, by HERE Resident Artists Shaun Irons and Lauren Petty, as part of its 2013-2014 producing season. This multimedia dance-theatre performance features Madeline Best and Carlton Ward, Choreography by Tara O'Con and Original Music by Brian Rogers. This premiere engagement plays 8 performances, beginning tonight, April 30 - May 10, at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue, just below Spring Street).

Dixon Place has announced the recipient of the 2014 (second annual) Tom Murrin Performance Award, a.k.a. 'The Tommy.' Intended to a transformative career opportunity to an early career NYC-based artistic or company, this year's award will be presented to Andrew Schneider, a performance / interactive-electronics artist who was previously a seven-year member of the Wooster Group. The second annual Tommy Award presentation will take place at Dixon Place (161a Chrystie Street, New York City) on Sunday, April 27th at 7:30PM. The awards celebration - featuring a special appearance by the 2013 Tommy Award winner, talk-of-the-town performance company ANIMALS, as well as Tom Murrin's wife, Patricia Sullivan -- will be the final stop of a parade of spontaneous outdoor performances, which will commence at closing of the Tom Murrin Full Moon Performance Festival at La Mama. The parade will begin approximately at 6:45pm and travel from East 4th Street to Dixon Place. The Tommy Award party at Dixon Place is FREE, with a cash bar all night.

Target Margin Theater, presented by The Chocolate Factory Theater (Brian Rogers, Artistic Director; Sheila Lewandowski, Executive Director), continues its exploration of Yiddish Theater with a new adaptation of one of the central plays of Yiddish history, Uriel Acosta: I Want That Man!, taken from myriad literary and historical sources. Created and directed by TMT's Artistic Director, David Herskovits, with original songs by Rebecca Hart, and toy theater created by Kathleen Kennedy Tobin, the four-member cast features Don Castro, James Tigger! Ferguson, Mary Rasmussen and J.H. Smith III.

Mikhail Baryshnikov serves as the Honorary Chairman for Uptown Downtown, a special one-night-only extravaganza to benefit the Abrons Arts Center on October 14. Bringing together the brightest lights of New York City's uptown and downtown performance scenes, the evening will feature Kyle Abraham, Joey Arias, Jack Ferver + James Whiteside, Ellen Greene, Robert La Fosse, Bebe Neuwirth, Philippe Petit, and other special guests. Hot Box is a loud, dark, drunken live performance (and endurance challenge) that takes inspiration from Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now and Werner Herzog's Fitzcarraldo-particularly the extreme physical trials the actors underwent in order to create a genuine experience on screen. Hot Box features dancer Madeline Best and non-performer Rogers, taking center stage in his own work for the first time.

New London Maritime Society Launches 2012 Annual Fund

This week, the New London Maritime Society launches its 2012 Annual Fund. In anticipation of 2013, the Society's 30th--Pearl--Anniversary, the Society selected an ambitions fundraising goal of $30,000. Last year's equally ambitious goal of $25,000 was, in fact, surpassed, with contributions totaling more than $27,000.
