The Distell Group and Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards panel have announced the anticipated list of nominees in contention for the prestigious awards which reward outstanding work in the theatre industry annually. 

Based on Sally Andrew’s best-selling novels “A Tannie Maria Mystery,” the ten-part series follows a newspaper recipe advice columnist, Tannie Maria (“Auntie Maria” in Afrikaans), who offers guidance and counsel and helps investigate crimes in her small town in the vibrant, beautiful region of the Karoo in South Africa. David Kramer's new musical LANGARM at The Fugard Theatre has been extended due to an overwhelming demand. With all remaining 2018 performances and New Year's Eve now sold out, the run has been extended to Sunday 3 March 2019. Performances in January 2019 will continue to run from Tuesday to Sunday.

Born out of David Kramer's photographic intrigue and romantic imaginings, LANGARM presents a snippet into a lesser-explored world of 1960s District Six that combines the best of experienced local performers with rising talent to watch. South African Thriller NUMBER 37 Releases In Theaters and On Demand In November

Film and television star Elton Landrew joins the cast of LANGARM, the new musical by South African legend David Kramer. He will create the role of Eddie Jephta, leader of the Moonlight Serenaders langarm band, in the production which has its world premiere at The Fugard Theatre from 20 November.

Amee Lekas's DIE DANS VAN DIE WATERMEID, which means 'the dance of the water maiden,' which only existed on paper at the first editions of Kunste Onbeperk's script market, Teksmark, in Cape Town last year, will soon come to life as a fully-fledged production at the Baxter Theatre Centre.

The reality of what has been achieved in this adaptation belies the potential that this version of BLOOD BROTHERS held in its conception. While there are some moments that work beautifully, there are many where the shaky ideological foundation upon which this production is built calls the entire exercise into question.

The prestigious 48th annual Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards took place at the Artscape Theatre last night, Sunday March 17, 2013.It was a glamorous red carpet event, attended by celebrities, VIP's and the creme de la creme of the South African theatre scene. Top South African comedian Alan Committee hosted the onstage proceedings with great humour and flair. Africa Melane, a Fleur du Cap panel member and Capetalk presenter was his co-host for the evening.
