Amas Musical Theatre and The Amas Musical Theatre Lab will present staged readings of The Ten Minute Hamlet, a contemporary comedy by Sharon Talbott. Directed by Christopher Scott, the readings will be held on Monday, December 14th at 6pm and Tuesday, December 15th at 3pm & 7pm at Ripley Greer Studios (989 Eighth Avenue - between 55th & 56th Streets). The readings are free, although reservations are required. Please email boxoffice@amasmusical.org or call 212-563-2565.

In The Ten Minute Hamlet, a teen drug addict, forced to do community service at a retirement home, decides to mount a production of "Hamlet." What he doesn't know is that the "old dudes" are already living it every day. A contemporary comedy in the vein of Kaufman and Hart, the Bard will never be seen in the same way again.

The cast of The Ten Minute Hamlet will include: Erika Amato (Flashdance - Nat'l tour), Bill Conner, Damien Depaolis(Antigone), Mitch MGuire, Madalyn Marklin (Anais Nin Goes to Hollywood), Allison Plamondon (Trying), and Stuart Schneck ("Your Dad's Friends" - web series). Additional cast will be announced at a later date.

"We are happy to present these readings, as part of our mission at Amas is to provide opportunities for minorities to have the opportunity to be seen on stage," says Ms. Trinkoff. "This warm, old-fashioned comedy features a cast of charming eccentrics, with several roles played by actors aged 60 and above - five of them women, for whom very little is written."

These presentations are part of the ongoing Amas Musical Theatre Lab, a development series for writers, lyricists and composers to mount public readings of their new musicals. The Lab is supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and by the Actors' Equity Association Foundation, BMI Foundation, the Barbara Bell Cumming Foundation, the Lucille Lortel Foundation, the Frederick Loewe Foundation, the Friars Club, the Shubert Foundation, and through the generous support of many individuals.
