AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Please bring a resume and a list of all potential conflicts including travel, etc. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. No appointment necessary. Open Call Auditions. There is NO PAY.
PLOT SUMMARY: The Man Who Came to Dinner is set during the 1930s -- in the small town of Mesalia, Ohio -- during the weeks leading up to Christmas. Famously outlandish radio wit Sheridan Whiteside of New York City has been invited to dine at the house of wealthy factory owner Ernest W. Stanley and his family. However, before Whiteside enters the house, he slips on a patch of ice outside the front door and injures his hip -- necessitating a tumultuous six weeks of confinement. Join the Stanleys as convicts are invited to their meals, transatlantic calls bring a $784 phone bill, penguins take residence in the library, a radio show is broadcast from the living room on Christmas Eve, and 10,000 cockroaches take over the kitchen. CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
Sheridan Whiteside (35 to 60): Arrogant, self-involved radio star. He wants what he wants, when he wants it, and no one gets in his way.
Maggie Cutler (30 to 40): Whiteside's efficient private secretary and chief interference runner for the past 10 years.
Mr. Ernest W. Stanley (40 to 60): Successful business owner, now the frustrated and discomfited host to the demanding invalid.
Mrs. Daisy Stanley (40 to 60): Sweet and now slightly high-strung wife of Ernest.
Richard Stanley (mid 20's): Talented amateur photographer, son of Ernest and Daisy.
June Stanley (early 20's): Hopelessly in love with "the wrong boy"; daughter to Ernest and Daisy.
Harriet Stanley (50 to 70): Eccentric, live-in sister to Ernest; she has a sinister past.

Dr. Bradley (40 to 60): The local doctor attending to Mr. Whiteside; he has written a book.
Bert Jefferson (30 to 40): Local newspaper reporter; he has written a play.
Professor Metz (40 to 80): An entomologist who brings Mr. Whiteside a cockroach community.
Lorraine Sheldon (20 to 30): A temperamental, acid-tongued, self-serving actress; young and beautiful.
Sandy (late 20's): Union organizer and June's boyfriend.
