Sister Act
Based on the hit film of the same name, Sister Act tells the story of aspiring disco diva Deloris Van Cartier. As she tries to become a star in 1970s Philadelphia, Deloris falls in love with a gangster and when she witnesses him commit a murder, she is put in hiding by police in an unlikely place – a convent whose parish has fallen on hard times. Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Though the sequin-free lifestyle doesn't agree with her, Deloris finds her calling using her unique disco moves and voice to inspire the choir. Working with them, Deloris breathes new life into the dusty convent. However, when the choir starts attracting press attention, and money starts pouring in by the public to renovate the old convent – it isn't longer before Deloris blows her cover! Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find them up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood. A life-affirming tribute to the universal power of friendship, and filled with powerful and soulful music, Sister Act is a reason to rejoice.

Character Breakdown

DELORIS VAN CARTIER - An aspiring performer, trying to find both fame and a place in the world. When forced to hide in the convent, they initially refuse to embrace their new lifestyle but learn to embrace it when they work with the choir. Loud-mouthed, and sassy, but ultimately caring. 25-35 yrs old, Range: E3 – F#5.

MOTHER SUPERIOR - The head of the convent, sarcastic and a bit stiff. Extremely protective about keeping their sisters away from the outside world, which puts them in direct opposition to Deloris and their musical teachings. 50-70 yrs old, Range: D3 – E5.

SISTER MARY ROBERT - A postulant, abandoned as a baby and raised at the convent. Shy and soft-spoken, but singing with Deloris lets them find their voice. Their wallflower lifestyle has made them live a shell of a life. 16-25 yrs old, Range: F#3 – A5.

SISTER MARY PATRICK - A nun of the convent. Consistently perky, enthusiastic, and easily excitable. 35-50 yrs old, Range: G3-E6.

MONSIGNOR O’HARA - One of the heads of the convent. Constantly concerned with financial matters, though soul music surprisingly puts them in a different mood. 45-60 yrs old, Range: E3 – G4.
