Pioneer Theatre Company is holding auditions for two upcoming productions. Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley, the imagined sequel to Pride and Prejudice, was written by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon and runs from November 30 to December 15, 2018. The Lion in Winter was written by James Goldman and runs January 4 - January 19, 2019.
Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley takes place at Pemberley Hall, where Elizabeth Bennet Darcy has invited her family to join her for her first Christmas after her marriage to Mr. Darcy. When her strong-minded sister Mary and the bookish Arthur de Bourgh strike up a friendship--will romance follow? It will be directed by Guest Director Julie Kramer.
In The Lion in Winter it's Christmas in 1183, and Henry II, King of England, is locked in a battle of wits with his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine over which of their sons will succeed him as king. Henry has had Eleanor locked away in favor of Alais, a French princess whom he would like to marry. Eleanor has other ideas, and while she and Henry try to outmaneuver each other, their three sons scheme and intrigue over the throne. It will be directed by Guest Director Wes Grantom.
Auditions for both will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon is reserved for Actors Equity Association members only.
Callbacks will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018, by invitation only.
Rehearsal dates for Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley are November 5 - November 29, 2018. Rehearsal dates for The Lion in Winter are December 10, 2018 - January 3, 2019.
All auditions will be held in Room 245 at Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. A headshot and resume are recommended. Sides will be available one week prior to auditions.
All roles are available. Auditioners must come in to sign up on the callboard in Room 325 at the Roy W. and Elizabeth E. Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. The sign-up sheet will be posted on Friday, September 7, 2018.
