Sierra Stages is pleased to announce open auditions for its summer 2016 production of the smash-hit musical “LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS” by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, playing from July 14 – August 6, 2016at the Nevada Theatre in Nevada City. Robert Rossman directs, with musical direction by Ken Getz.
?Laced with dark humor and irresistible music, “LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS” is one of the longest-running off-Broadway shows of all time. Seymour, a down-and-out floral assistant who longs to get the girl of his dreams and escape life on skid row, becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving that offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite.
Auditions for “LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS” will be held on Saturday, January 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Sierra Stages Rehearsal Studio, 343 Railroad Avenue in Nevada City. 2016 is the 8th season of quality local theatre presented by Sierra Stages, and for the 8th consecutive year, Sierra Stages offers an affordable Season Pass. The Season Pass is priced at $80 and allows theatregoers to select any performance of each of the four plays and musicals to be presented in 2016: “THE CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN”, an enchanting, dark comedy by Martin McDonagh (March 3-19 at the Nevada Theatre),“THE LAST FIVE YEARS”, an intimate musical by Jason Robert Brown(April 28 – May 8 at the Off Center Stage in Grass Valley), “LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS” (July 14 – August 6 at the Nevada Theatre), and“DEAD MAN’S CELL PHONE” a beguiling comedy by Sarah Ruhl (September 28 – October 16 at the Off Center Stage in Grass Valley). Sierra Stages invites everyone, including Season Pass holders, to become a Sierra Stages Member and support quality local theatre. Memberships begin at $35 per person and are tax deductible.
