Freefall Frostbite - Theatre 80 at St Marks
Casting the reinvention of a movement-based contemporary musical. "Freefall Frostbite" was originally done in the NYC International Fringe Festival in 2013. Since then the piece has been workshopped and rewritten. The recreation of this piece with a completely new score will be re-premiering this October. This is a show full of hope, betrayal, illusions, and liberation in a culturally relevant and relatable story. The team is seeking an actor that wants to tell a story that will impact people's lives. SEEKING: [STEVEN]Steven is an up-and-coming New York playwright who finds himself lost in his work. He begins to confuse his emotions with the emotions he creates in his art. Looking for a natural and realistic actor who has a strong singing voice, movement skills and basic dance skills. Looking for a more singer songwriter type voice, rather than a purely musical theatre sound. Please note: actors over 5'9" are strongly encouraged to submit. Story line: It is about 7PM on December 31st in New York City when Steven and his girlfriend Sharon go to wait in line to get into an exclusive nightclub. As they stand in line, it becomes apparent that nobody is getting in and the cold is becoming more and more unbearable. Meanwhile, a group of homeless people begin harassing the people in line. The homeless are on a constant mission to find things to burn in order to keep their fire going and the warmth they are getting from said fire. As the homeless poke and prod at the people in line they start to make "insane sense." The truth begins to pour out and the action begins to "give mass to the metaphor." Auditions will be by appointment on Thursday Aug 3rd in the evening with callbacks being held on Saturday August 5th from 11AM-2PM. Please only submit if you are available for call backs.
