DRAMAMAMAS - White Plains Performing Arts Center

White Plains Performing Arts Center (WPPAC) is proud to announce open auditions for young non-union musical theatre performers ages 15-21 for A BRAND NEW musical with a fully staged production in mid-November 2012. Rehearsals will be 5-9 pm 3-4 days a week with possible weekend days (TBD) in addition. Commitment begins mid-August and goes through mid-November ending before Thanksgiving. In addition, a Hollywood Production Company is casting DRAMAMAMAS, a new original network series documenting the creative journey and process by which a new musical is developed and produced with the hopes of a Broadway run. They have chosen to exclusively follow WPPAC’s production of THIS new musical. The TV show features young musical theatre performers (ALL TYPES) ranging in age from 15-21 participating in the production mentioned above; but here's the twist--their moms (or dads) will be cast as well. In order for you to be considered, we need a parent to "audition" too!!! No, they don't have to sing or dance, so there is no fear of YouTube-like embarrassment. But we do need them to be interviewed at the casting call, by one of our celebrity mentors featured on the series. The OPEN CALL for young performers and their parent will begin at 9:00 am on June 2 at The Digital Arts Experience (170 Hamilton Ave., White Plains, NY 10601). Sign-In will be from 9-10 am with callbacks continuing throughout the day until 6 pm. PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF A VERY LONG DAY. Final callbacks will follow on June 3 from 10 am – 6 pm at White Plains Performing Arts Center (11 City Place, 3rd Floor [City Center], White Plains, NY 10601). NO ONE WITHOUT AN AUDITION REGISTRATION WILL BE SEEN. What to bring – Performers need to prepare their BEST 32 bar cut of a contemporary/pop musical theatre piece (either uptempo or ballad) NO LEGIT or CLASSICAL please. An accompanist will be provided, but you MUST bring sheet music in the appropriate key securely fastened in a binder. If you have a “book” of audition songs, it’s a good idea to bring it with you. Also, prepare a comedic monologue no longer than one minute in length for the callbacks later that day. If called back on Sunday, please wear comfortable clothing (dancewear/dance footwear if possible) in which you can dance/move well, as there will be an easy dance combination. Bring headshots/resumes stapled together. If interested, please email Matthew at matthew@wppac.com to register for an audition. Performers and parents will be seen on a first come/first served basis but will need to register prior to the auditions. You will receive an audition confirmation with further instructions. ALL ETHNICITIES STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO AUDITION. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.
