CHICAGO - The Company Theatre
The Company Theatre
to Hold Open Auditions
for Chicago
The Company Theatre announces open auditions for their upcoming production of the Tony® Award winning musical Chicago, to be held Sunday, January 6 at 1 pm at The Company Theatre Centre for the Arts, 30 Accord Park Drive, Norwell. All roles are open for casting. A callback is scheduled for Monday, January 7, the time to be announced. A rehearsal schedule will be available at the audition.
Set in the roaring twenties, Chicago paints the town red in vaudeville style and the iconic choreography of Bob Fosse, two merry murderesses and their hotshot lawyer. A sharp edged satire with a dazzling score, this six-time Tony® Award winner includes the award for Best Revival. On the big screen, Chicago earned an Oscar Award for Best Picture. On stage, ambitious chorus gal Roxie Hart murders her faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband to take the blame. Convicted and sent to death row, she meets another “merry murderess” in Velma Kelly. The two vie for the spotlight, headlines, and join forces in search of the “American Dream” – fame, fortune and acquittal. Chicago is the hit heard round the world, calling out with “C’mon babe, we’re gonna paint the town…and all that jazz!”
Audition candidates should be strong singers and dancers. Please arrive prepared to sing 16 bars from the Chicago score, or a song in the musical theater style. Dress appropriately to learn and rehearse a dance combination. The production team will provide sheet music from the Chicago score and accompaniment, or audition candidates may bring their own sheet music. Please come prepared to sing sixteen bars and to learn a dance combination.
