Civic Theatre Announces Auditions for “BROADWAY KIDS” Concert October 8

Civic Theatre of Allentown announces open auditions for the first in its 2013 Cabaret events – Broadway Kids. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, October 8 in the rehearsal hall at Civic’s historic 19th Street Theatre.

WHAT is BROADWAY KIDS?
BROADWAY KIDS is an afternoon concert of young singing actors taking the stage at Civic creating musical numbers from Broadway that you may not expect. Kids are featured prominently in many roles in musicals -ANNIE, OLIVER, BILLY ELLIOT - and this revue may include some of those shows but will mostly showcase the cast in roles they may have to otherwise wait a few years to play. Imagine a young Patti LuPone getting to do Rose's Turn at 10 or a young Brian Stokes Mitchell belting out the Impossible Dream at 12.

WHO is eligible to audition?

Interested singers 12 and Younger should MEMORIZE 16 bars of a BROADWAY show tune that showcases their range and acting ability. Please bring your music with you - no singing a Capella or holding music at the audition. This is not a Theatre School production. Attendance at Civic Theatre School is not a requirement or prerequisite.

Civic Theatre of Allentown is a 501c3 non-profit organization that professionally produces live community theatre, is the Lehigh Valley’s longest running year-round art house cinema, and the home of the Lehigh Valley’s oldest continually operated children’s theatre school.
