Based upon the fairy tale Cinderella, the story concerns a young woman forced into a life of servitude by her cruel stepmother, who dreams of a better life. With the help of her Fairy Godmother, Cinderella is transformed into an elegant young lady and is able to attend the ball to meet her Prince, but, in this version, she must open the Prince's eyes to the injustice in his kingdom.

SEEKING:
ELLA (female) a young lady with the kindest heart in the kingdom. She dreams of escaping her endless chores so she might one day see the world.
PRINCE TOPHER (male) is the Prince of the entire kingdom, but he needs a bit of inspiration to realize his full potential.
MADAME (female) Ella’s stepmother, a vain and tyrannical woman only concerned with her wealth and her daughters’ happiness. Madame does not
consider Ella, her stepdaughter, a true daughter.
SEBASTIAN (male) Topher’s Lord Chancellor. Although Sebastian wants to protect the Prince, he does so by shielding the Prince completely from what is
going on in the kingdom.
MARIE (female) She enters the story as a senile poor woman, but she magically transforms into her true form as Ella’s wise and compassionate Fairy Godmother.
GABRIELLE (female) begins the story as just another selfish step sister but finds camaraderie in Ella when she reveals to Ella that she would give up her riches to be with Jean-Michel.
CHARLOTTE (female) One of Ella’s stepsisters who treats Ella cruelly but, quite honestly, doesn’t know much better because she is so self-involved. Charlotte’s a bit of a clown and definitely the last one in on the joke.
LORD PINKLETON (male) Sebastian’s second in-command and the herald for all important events or information.
JEAN-MICHEL (male) a poor revolutionary with many ideas about how to improve society. Jean-Michel is in love with Gabrielle.

LYONS MAXSON (African American, 30-40, male) Troy's oldest son by previous marriage. A musician having a hard time making a living.
GABRIEL MAXSON (African American, 40-55, male) Troy's younger brother. Received a head injury during WWII and often believes himself to be the angel
Gabriel.

great pride in her success and autonomy.
TORVALD (male, 40s-60s) Nora’s estranged husband. On the surface, he is measured and reserved. He feels quite deeply, but is unsure of how to express it.
ANNE MARIE (female, 60-75) - the nanny of the Helmer household. She has raised the three Helmer children as if they were own.
EMMY (female, 20s) - Nora and Torvald’s daughter.

Roxie Hart is sent to prison for killing a man who tried to walk out on her. While in prison she meets Velma Kelly, a big-time vaudeville star with twice as much blood on her hands. The two vie for the same lawyer, Billy Flynn, to help win their freedom and play the public from prison to help win fame for when they’re finally free.

VELMA KELLY (25-40, female) Vaudeville performer who is accused of murdering her sister and husband. Hardened by fame, she cares for no one but
herself and her attempt to get away with murder.
ROXIE HART (20-30, female) Reads and keeps up with murder trials in Chicago, and follows suit by murdering her lover, Fred Casely. She stops at nothing to
render a media storm with one goal: to get away with it.
FRED CASELY (30-50, male) Roxie’s short lived lover. Murdered for trying to leave Roxie.
SERGEANT FOGARTY (35-55, male) Assigned to Roxie’s case. After asking the right questions, he manages to get Roxie to confess.
AMOS HART (30-50, male) Roxie’s faithful husband. Lies for her and tries to take the blame until he realizes that he has been two-timed by Roxie. Still in love
with her, or misguided, he believes anything she says in her pursuit to get out of jail.
LIZ (18-45, female) Prisoner at Cook County Jail. She is imprisoned after shooting two warning shots into her husband’s head.
ANNIE (18-45, female) Prisoner at the Cook County Jail. Murder’s her lover after finding out he already has six wives. “One of those Mormons, ya’ know.”
JUNE (18-45,female) Prisoner at Cook County Jail. After her husband accuses her of screwing the milkman, he mysteriously runs into her knife ten times.
HUNYAK (25-45, female) Hungarian Prisoner at Cook County Jail. The only English she speaks is the phase, “Not Guilty.” Which follows her to her grave.
MONA (18-45, female) Prisoner at Cook County Jail. Murders her lover after he has a round of affairs with other woman, and an occasional man. I guess you
could say it was “artistic differences.”
MATRON MAMA MORTON (30-50, female) Leader of the prisoners of Cook County Jail. The total essence of corruption. Accepts bribes for favors from
laundry service to making calls to lawyers. “When you’re good to Moma, Moma’s good to you.”
BILLY FLYNN (35-50, male) Established lawyer who hasn’t lost a woman’s case yet. Master of media manipulation who will get a girl off the hook as long as she can fork up the hefty $5,000 fee.
MARY SUNSHINE (25-55, female) Sob sister reporter from the Evening Star. Believes there is a little bit of good in everyone and will believe anything she is
fed that matches her beliefs.
GO-TO-HELL-KITTY (21-40, female) Steals the spotlight when she murders her husband along with three other woman. Her crimes are labeled “Lake Shore
Drive Massacre.”

SEEKING:
BONNIE begins the play as a woman of 63. She is tough and hard-shelled, with an acid humor. She tends to assume that things can and will get worse.
CLAIRE begins the play as a woman of 61. She is Bonnie’s younger sister; vivacious, exuberant, demonstrative. She is the half-full to Bonnie’s half-empty.
ZOE begins the play as a woman of 19. She is Bonnie and Claire’s niece, the daughter of their brother. She is forthright and insightful; she doesn’t miss much.
The play and its characters move through about 14 years, from 1988 to 1994 to 2002; therefore:
ZOE’s age goes from 19 to 25 to 33
BONNIE’s age goes from 63 to 69 to 77
CLAIRE’s age goes from 61 to 67 to 75
