Breakdown

Seeking:

PETER/JOHN BROWN
Caucasian, fifties or older. Sally’s father. Salt of the earth. Enjoys a drink. Loves his
children but struggles to express that. Also doubles as John Brown, a fiery abolitionist who believes he is doing God’s work.

The following roles have been CAST. Actors auditioning will be considered for possible replacements if needed:

SALLY
CAST. White, 20s. A college drop-out and wanderer who comes home looking for answers. Fiercely intelligent but depressed. Looking for a better life for herself and for her country. Feels the weight of America’s entire history on her shoulders. (This role is cast.)

JIMMY/TIM MCVEIGH
CAST. Caucasian, late 20s/early 30s. Sally’s brother. The kind of guy who never leaves his home town. Loves his sister but is worried about her and doesn’t know how to help her. Doubles as Timothy McVeigh, the former soldier turned Oklahoma City bomber. Sincerely convinced he is doing the right thing. (This role is cast.)

JONATHAN/NAT BROWN
CAST. African-American, 30s/40s. Runs a restaurant in Detroit. A good soul. Trying to build a better world. Also doubles as Nat Brown, a slave who leads a bloody rebellion against his white slave owners. (This role is cast.)

COACH/HARRIET TUBMAN
CAST. African-American, 30s. Sally’s coach. Tough but fair. Wants the best from Sally. Doubles as Harriet Tubman, a former slave who helps other African-Americans escape to freedom. Strong willed. A fighter. (This role is cast.)
