SEEKING

Equity Actors for various roles in the production: THE HARRIET HOLLAND SOCIAL CLUB PRESENTS THE 84TH ANNUAL STAR-BURST COTILLION IN THE GRAND BALLROOM OF THE RENAISSANCE HOTEL.

All characters are African-American.

Also seeking an AEA SM and ASM. See separate notice on casting call for submission info.


PREPARATION

Please prepare a 2-min contemporary monologue. Bring picture and resume.

ART/NY South Oxford Space

Studio G will serve as the holding room; Studio B will be the audition spac


PERSONNEL

The Cotillion is a co-production of New Georges & The Movement Theatre Company written and directed by Colette Robert

AEA 8 Actors to be part of an ensemble of Black Characters.

This piece requires actors who are comfortable with movement and poetic language, see individual character descriptions below. Please note: The Cotillion will be experienced as a black debutante ball exploring the history and language of “presenting” black female bodies.

Late 30s/early 40s. Black woman; extremely successful business woman, competitive; obsessed with the status quo; intimidating when she needs to be;used to and comfortable with being the only black person in a room

MISS SHELLIE NICOLE BELL
17. Black woman; doesn’t make waves, follows the crowd, naïve, hopeful, popular at school

MISS KIMBERLY BLAIR
17. Black woman; ambitious, overachiever; speaks her mind; probably not very popular at school, but she doesn’t really care one way or the other

MISS MELISSA BORDENAVE
17. Black woman; keeps a lot in; tries really hard, a people-pleaser; probably not very popular at school, but she really wants to be

MISS LINDSEY DUPRÉ
17. Black woman; introverted, kind; actively and successfully tries to blend in, and is therefore neither popular nor unpopular
