Equity and non-Equity actor/singers for various roles in this production where all characters are of Asian Descent.

Preparation
Please prepare a traditional musical theatre song in the style of the show (Kern, Rodgers, Loesser, etc. or even something more operatic or from the operetta world.) You are welcome to sing from the show, if you’d prefer.

Bring picture and resume.

We anticipate a mostly DAYTIME rehearsal schedule and will NOT be able to work around Broadway show schedules.

SEEKING:

GAYLORD RAVENAL
Asian, male, 30s-40s. A riverboat gambler who becomes the leading man of the “Cotton Blossom”. Soaring baritone.

MAGNOLIA
Asian, female, late 20s (her character ages from 18 to 48 within the show). Strikingly beautiful, falls for Ravenal. Glorious lyric soprano singing voice.

QUEENIE
Asian, female, 30+, warm with great humanity. She has a big powerful mezzo voice.

JOE
Asian, male, 30+, husband to Queenie, sings “Old Man River,” He is earthy with a quiet strength. Strong bass-baritone singing voice.

CAPTAIN ANDY
Asian, male, 50+. He is captain of the “Cotton Blossom”. True old time showman. Warm, fatherly character. Character Baritone, but a legit singing voice is not needed.

PARTHY
Asian, female, 40+, matriarch of the “Cotton Blossom.” A working-class woman, New Englander and classy. She is a force to be reckoned with. Non-singing role.

JULIE LAVERNE
Asian, female (late 20s – early 30s) Worldly and glamorous, the leading lady of the “Cotton Blossom”. Legit Mezzo Soprano voice.

ELLIE MAY CHIPLEY
Asian, female, 25-35, soubrette, wants to be serious actress. Strong dancer, part of the vaudeville team. Mezzo voice range.

FRANK SCHULTZ
Asian, Male, 25+, strong dancer, plays villain on the show boat, but “meek as a lamb”. He is part of the vaudeville team. Baritone.

CHARACTER MEN
Asian, males, all ages (over 18) – strong singing actors to play numerous roles.

CHARACTER WOMEN
Asian, females, all ages (over 18) – strong singing actors to play numerous roles.

YOUNG KIM
Asian, female, 9 to 13 years old. Should sing well.
