BREAKDOWN

SYNOPSIS
World Premiere of Reparations by James Sheldon, fall 2019. A recently widowed white book editor invites a younger black writer to her apartment, only to find that a night of tenderness and passion turns into a brutal morning-after when he threatens to reveal a dark secret about her dead husband unless she publishes his latest novel. Will the young writer succeed in his blackmail attempt and claim his reparations for a life of racial injustice, or will she force his hand and come to terms with her husband’s detestable past-- and her own?

REG AMBROSE
REG is an African-American man, late 30s, urbane, exotic, sexy, sensitive, irresistibly charming living with a secret past. Reg works as a travel writer who has been everywhere and is seeking a publisher for his novel.

GINNY PLEASANCE
An attractive white American woman, early to mid-50s. Ginny is a very intelligent accomplished editor in book publishing who is also a recent widow reeling from grief and need to reclaim the joy

ALISTAIR JACOBS
A wealthy fit and confident white English gentleman, early 60s who publishes books at a prestigious company. Allistar, a self-made man, is charming in a dry-witted way, passionate about his wife Millie and friendship with Ginny's deceased husband

MILLIE JACOBS
Black Nigerian, 40s. An attractive highly educated filled with sparkle and African style. She lights up a room when she enters it. She is a doctor specializing in pediatrics and Ginny's good friend. She dresses in colorful African attire beneath her overcoat and speaks in a crisp, classy British accent.
