SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Northern Stage Co 2023-24 Season (see breakdown). Local actors encouraged to attend.
Actors of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, and identities are encouraged to audition. Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.

Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

Please prepare two contrasting one-minute monologues. Please bring a headshot and resume.

SEEKING:

TAROON. Early 30s. Afghan. He worked as an interpreter for the US Army during the war, which has
made him a target for the Taliban. He hides in his sister's apartment while awaiting the birth of his first
child.

AFIYA. Early 30s. Afghan. Taroon’s sister, a seamstress. Taroon's work as an interpreter puts a target
on her and her family as well. She is working hard to keep her brother and the whole family safe,
which means she can't trust anyone.

LEYLA. Late 20s. Afghan. Afiya’s neighbor and childhood friend. She is chatty and a bit of a busy
body which can be dangerous in such a tense situation. But she loves Afiya, and is, in her way, trying
to keep everyone safe.
JAWID. Late 30s. Afghan. Afiya’s husband, a tailor. He loves his wife dearly. Taroon's work as an
interpreter puts a target on him and his family. He's working hard to hold it all together, and to get
Taroon out of the country for everyone's safety.

MRS. CRATCHIT/as cast. Bob Cratchit's wife and mother to four children. Kind, loving, strong, smart
woman.

FRED/as cast. Scrooge’s nephew. A quick witted and kind man who enjoys being fun and playful.
also: YOUNG SCROOGE - Scrooge’s younger self.

JACOB MARLEY/as cast. A ghostly apparition. Scrooge’s deceased business partner.

GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST/as cast. A ghost. Magical and whimsical, childlike and ancient all at
once.

GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PRESENT/as cast. A spirit. Gregarious and knowledgeable. also: MR.

FEZZIWIG. A wise and jovial businessman. Scrooge’s old boss.

GHOST OF CHRISTMAS FUTURE/as cast. A phantom. Shadowy and scary.

OLD JOE/as cast: Buyer of stolen goods.

MRS. FEZZIWIG/as cast. Warm, joyous, giving.

BELLE/as cast. Scrooge’s ex-fiancé. Grateful for her home and family. MRS. DILBER/as cast.

ANNIE. The company’s stage manager, who has no choice but to step into Sandra’s role when an
incident happens onstage.

TREVOR. The company’s lighting and sound operator who simply wants to get on with the show.

CHRIS. Head of the drama society, director of the play. Plays “Inspector Carter.” This is his big night.
Everything is on the line for him and his career.

JONATHAN. Plays “Charles Haversham.” A good person and dedicated actor amidst the chaos
onstage. Very physical role.

ROBERT. Plays “Thomas Colleymoore.” Strong presence and personality on and off stage.

DENNIS. Plays “Perkins.” More or less nonchalant compared to other actors, sees this production as a
social opportunity for himself.

MAX. Plays “Cecil Haversham” and “Arthur.” A first-time actor who only knows to do what he’s told.
Frequently breaks the fourth wall seeking comedic approval.

SANDRA. Plays “Florence Colleymoore.” A cunning and ambitious actor. The stakes are high for her.
Very physical role.
