Equity actors for 2 available roles:

ELIZA BOARDMAN: Must be Deaf or Hard of Hearing. White, age 26.

YOUNG LAURENT CLERC: 11 to 14 year old boy, Deaf or HOH.

Preparation
For Eliza Boardman: Prepare a brief monologue in American Sign Language under 2 minutes. You may be asked to read sides from the play, so be prepared.

For young Laurent Clerc: Prepare a very short poem in ASL

All bring picture and resume.

Other Dates
1st reh: 8/17. 1st Perf: 9/8. Opens: 9/10. Runs for 2 weeks at Baruch Performing Arts Center's Rose Nagelberg Theatre.

This is a workshop production. Because rehearsal period is 3 weeks, actors will be allowed to perform with book on music stand.

Other
The production is performed mostly in ASL with English voicers with the techniques used by National Theatre of the Deaf.

Performers of all ethnic and racial background are encouraged to attend.

Breakdown

ELIZA BOARDMAN: Must be Deaf or Hard of Hearing (no hearing actors will be considered) with exceptional theatrical ASL skills. White, age 26, beautiful, charismatic, passionate.

YOUNG LAURENT CLERC: 11 to 14 year old boy, Deaf or HOH. Should have a slight build and must look 12. John Patrick McGinty is playing adult CLERC. Must have some signing skills. Must be comfortable in front of audience. Great opportunity for the right kid to work with seasoned professional Deaf artists.

Additional Employment Opportunity:

American Sign Language Master needed to oversee translation of English script to American Sign language. Must be skilled in theatrical sign . Signing in play evolves from signed English to the more expressive ASL. Miming skills needed. Deaf applicant prefered. Salary tbd. Note: This position is not under an AEA Contract. It is a regular job opportunity.
