BREAKDOWN

THEATER 2020 IS COMMITTED TO NON-TRADITIONAL CASTING WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE OR ETHNIC ORIGIN AND ENCOURAGES ALL ETHNICITIES TO AUDITION!

A FAMILIARITY WITH THE MUSICAL IS MANDATORY AS IS A SENSE OF HUMOR!

The company is expected to be 10 to 12 actors who will play multiple roles. The concept: “Into the Woods,” as performed by refugees in a resettlement camp, somewhere in the world in either the present or the near future.

The characters in the fairy tales of Grimm, come alive wishing for a better life, first looking out only to their own self-interest, but learning in the end that true happiness comes from a collective caring about others. Slippers, golden eggs, towers, witches, princes, all just amount to a handful of beans without friends.

The musical starts and concludes with a declaration, I wish! So, we end where we begin, in the camp, but in the meantime, the company has told a story which takes them on a journey of realization that, among other things, the way to kill a giant is to work together and that while we may lament our lot, we can do something about it, just remembering “No One Is Alone!” Also, of course, there is the idea that you need to be careful what you wish for because you might actually get it!
