Equity actors for roles in Depot Theatre's 2024 Season (See breakdown).

PREPARATION

Please prepare 32-bars of an up-tempo and/or 32-bars of a ballad in the style of the show you are interested in - Indie Rock (ANALOG & VINYL) or Country Pop (PUMP BOYS) and/or prepare the Sides that will be available at the audition. For EVERY BRILLIANT THING, please prepare a 2- minute comic or touching contemporary monologue (no Classical) or the Sides which will be available at the audition. Please also bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

HARRISON: Any Ethnicity. BIPOC. 30s. Male identifying. The owner of a vinyl record store. Super passionate music lover. He’s at a very difficult time in his life trying to stay positive and hopeful but faced with an uphill battle. He has a lovely sense of humor and dry wit. Indie Rock Vocal Range B2- G#5

RODEO GIRL: BIPOC. Late 20s/Early 30s. Female identifying. A Silverlake (trendy area of LA) hipster. She has a unique point of view. While she might seem “flighty” or “ditzy,” she is a well-read, positive force of nature. Think Goldie Hawn meets Danielle Brooks. Indie Rock Vocal Range F2-G5

THE STRANGER: BIPOC. 40s/50s. A mysterious stranger. She’s sexy, daring, sly sense of humor, manipulative, smart, and cunning. Indie Rock Vocal Range F2-B3

EVERY BRILLIANT THING

SEEKING:

NARRATOR: Any Ethnicity/Any Gender. 30s/40s. Our storyteller. A very audience interactive piece. Has excellent storytelling capabilities with excellent people skills. Also has a terrific sense of humor; ability to improv if necessary; ease with a variety of very intense subject matters.

PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES

SEEKING:

RHETTA: BIPOC, Female Identifying, 40s/50s. Soulful. Full of heart. Great sense of humor. A Dinette who works at the Double Cupp Diner and is the older sister of Prudie. A mother of two, she remains single. Full of life, she can sing, dance, and, of course, make great pie. Strong singer, belt and soul, and sings bottom line. Plays percussion with pots, pans, spoons, etc. Tap dance a plus. Can hold tight harmonies. Country Rock Pop Vocal Range (Mezzo- Soprano A4-A6)

PRUDIE: Any Ethnicity. Female Identifying. Late 20s/Early 30s. Joyful. Hopeful. Yearning. A Dinette who works at the Double Cupp Diner and is the younger sister of Rhetta. Like her sister, she is also full of character and fun, can sing, dance, and make great pie. Has percussive skills. Strong singer and sings top line. Plays percussion with pots, pans, spoons, etc. Tap dance a plus. Can hold tight harmonies. Country Rock Pop Vocal Range (Mezzo- Soprano A4-A6)

JIM: BIPOC. Male Identifying. 40s/50s. Big heart. Excellent sense of humor. The front man of the Pump Boys. He plays lead guitar and has the ability to chat with the audience in a very easy way. The storyteller of the evening he introduces us to the other characters. Jim is a strong singer, and mostly sings the middle line in the music. Can hold tight harmonies. Country Rock Pop Vocal Range (Baritone with a solid G5 belt) Plays lead guitar.

LM: Any ethnicity. Male identifying. 30s/40s/50s. Pianist of the group. Easy going. A dreamer. Has a dry sense of humor. Longtime friend and coworker of Jim. Women love him, but he’s suspicious of their affection and has eyes only for Dolly Parton. Can hold tight harmonies. Accordion a plus. Excellent piano player. Country Rock Pop Vocal Range (D2-Ab4)

JACKSON: Any ethnicity. Male identifying. Late 20s/30s. Instantly likeable. Likes to have a good time. The rhythm guitarist of the Pump Boys. Referred to as Lover Boy, the ladies like Jackson. Jackson is a strong singer, and mostly sings the top line in the music. Can hold tight harmonies. Vocal Range (Tenor 2 to G5) Plays rhythm guitar. Tap dance a plus.

EDDIE: Any ethnicity. Male identifying. 30s/40s/50s. Friend to all. Silent presence with brief, comedic interactions. Baritone who plays electric guitar and bass.
