Seeking
Male and female actors and actors who sing for a variety of roles for the 2016-2017 season.

Preparation
Two monologues:one classical piece and one contemporary piece - combined length no more than 3 minutes. Singers should prepare a song from a traditional legit American musical standard. Accompanist will be provided. Bring current picture and resume, sheet music, AEA card.

HENRY CONDELL: 40s, a feisty, loyal friend and devoted husband, an actor in The King’s Men, should be experienced with Shakespeare text and have facility with language. Any ethnicity.

RICHARD BURBAGE: 50s, seasoned lion of the stage, physically imposing, loud and proud, a showoff who takes himself seriously. /BEN JONSON: poet laurate of England, highly intelligent and gifted with words, friend and rival of Shakespeare, always drunk but hides it well, surprisingly weepy, feels generally superior to others. Any ethnicity.

HORATIO: friend of Hamlet, no court status, attended university at Wittenburg. Any ethnicity.

REBECCA HEMINGES: mid to late 40s, John Heminges wife, a strong, wise and constant woman who has weathered much but loves her husband, sons and god, wifely and domestic. / ANNE HATHAWAY SHAKESPEARE: 60, Shakespeare’s now ailing wife, strong willed and classy, a survivor. Any ethnicity.

ELIZABETH CONDELL: mid to late 40s, Henry Condell’s wife, savvy and fun, understands actors, loves her husband, and is a good friend to Rebecca. /EMILIA BASSANO LANIER: Fiery Italian feminist poet, independent woman, lover of life and former lover of Shakespeare, dark hair and gorgeous, of the nobility, of another world, does not confine herself to the rules of society, free and open.

RALPH CRANE: younger, no older than 40, humble scribe of The King’s Men, quick, sure, quiet, lower status, comic relief. / BARMAN: ruffian / COMPOSITOR: works for William Jaggard / FRANCISCO: a soldier and guardsman of Elsinore. Any ethnicity.

JOHN HEMINGES: 50, the financial manager of The King’s Men and tapster of the Old Globe Tap House, reasonable friend, a good man if serious, heartfelt, devoted to his wife. Any ethnicity.

ALICE: 35, John Heminges daughter and alewife, knows everyone, hangs out with the boys, adventurous. / SUSANNAH SHAKESPEARE: 30, daughter of Shakespeare, a good girl if somewhat resentful of her father’s absence growing up. Any ethnicity.

ED KNIGHT: 30s, stage manager for The King’s Men, a sincere, heartfelt, self-serious, particular young man, not quite married, redeemable, has a moral compass. / ISAAC JAGGARD: William’s son, sensitive, artist at heart. / BERNARDO: the soldier who first witnesses the ghost of Old Hamlet. Any ethnicity.

MARCUS: no younger than 20, a printer’s apprentice at Jaggard’s print house, nosy but honest, young in talent, comic relief. / BOY HAMLET: young actor, scrawny / CRIER: newsboy. Any ethnicity.

WILLIAM JAGGARD: 60, Scrooge type, successful if shady publisher of books, plays and playbills, confident in getting what he wants, very experienced and well connected, willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, an ass, walks with a cane, doesn’t see well. / BARMAN 2: a drunk

SIR EDWARD DERING: an upper class book and theatre lover, very rich. Any ethnicity.

LOUISE ALLEN: 50, Senator from Colorado, old college classmate of Emma'snot thin, wears a powersuit and moves swiftly, politcally saavy, sterotypical politician, up and coming, powerful, stong, fire brand

JEFFREY PHELPS: 50, Emma's late husband, high school teacher. / ERIC WILSON: Senator Allen's Chief of Staff. / MALIK PETERSON: extreme weather carpenter at Summit Station, speaks with a Greenlander accent
