Breakdown
EPA PREPARATION FOR CONSIDERATION:
- For Men, Two contrasting monologues: One in a modern, gritty dramatic style with Chicago/Northern accent. One comedic monologue. Be prepared to do this in a quick British, Scottish and/or German accent.
-For Women - One comedic monologue. Be prepared to use Received Pronunciation British, Scottish or German accents with it.
For THE 39 STEPS Actors should be familiar with the scripts sides posted on www.cityequitytheatre.org after Monday, August 17th.

JOEY
Chicago cop, Caucasion, 45 - 50 - Joey is a Chicago Cop: medium height, medium weight. A man who has been Denny's punching bag since they were kids in the old neighborhood. He is intellectual at heart.
DENNY
45-50 , Caucasion 45 - 50 Joey’s Police partner. Aman who is quick to anger. He prefers to settle issues with physical force and is quick to jump to conclusions.
Relationship description:
Joey and Denny grew up in the same neighborhood. They have been partners for 20 years but neither have ever been promoted to detective. Denny blames this on affirmative action policies of the department. Joey blames it on Denny and his continual use of racial slurs during police investigations.

Female Late 20’s-early 30’s. Excellent comedic, physical, and verbal skills a must. Excellent dialect skills in German, Scottish, and High British (RP) a must.Versatile, high energy actress to play 3 pivotal roles.
CLOWNS #1 AND #2
Males late 20’s -50’s Versatile, high energy actors to play multiple male and female roles as part of ensemble. Excellent comedic timing, excellent physical and verbal skills a must! Excellent dialect skills in Cockney, German, Scottish, and High British (RP) a must. High energy; On stage entire show.
