Seeking
Equity actor/singers for various roles.

This production will begin as a Developmental Lab (June 6-18, 2016) and then transfer to a Broadway production in Late 2016 / Early 2017. Actors will be considered for both.

Preparation
Please prepare a short contemporary musical theatre song. Bring sheet music; accompanist provided.

Bring picture and resume.

Seeking for the Developmental Lab Agreement and Broadway production

WILLY WONKA
Male, 40s; any ethnicity. The sly, charming, eternally youthful star of the show. Lithe, eccentric, and remarkably physical. Must have the ability to be filled with boundless energy and be physically light on his feet . Has a larger than life persona that can go from charming and comical, to magically mysterious and dark. Baritone/tenor voice. PRINCIPAL

CHARLIE BUCKET
Boy, about age 10 (please submit boys who play 8 – 12); any ethnicity. Sweet, smart, hopeful and loving. A boy with wonderful innocence and vulnerability. Honest actor and an excellent singer with a naturally innocent, unchanged voice. PRINCIPAL

GRANDPA JOE
Male, to play 60+; any ethnicity. Impish, remarkably physical (dance skills a plus), he is Charlie’s imaginative, fun, kind and loving grandfather. After many years being confined to a bed, his childish energy returns when Charlie finds the Golden Ticket. PRINCIPAL

MRS. BUCKET
Female, 30s; any ethnicity. Charlie’s warm and kind-hearted mother. A worrier. Generous and loving. Great dancer. A distinctive pop/folk voice. PRINCIPAL

AUGUSTUS GLOOP
Short, youthful ADULT male, to play a 9-12 year old boy; any ethnicity. Round and full-faced, but rampantly over-active despite his size. Speaks with a German accent. Excellent singer and comic actor. PRINCIPAL

MRS. GLOOP
Female, 30s-40s; any ethnicity. Augustus’s German, moronic, Wagnerian mother. A huge presence with a huge voice. Mirthlessly smiles as though it were affixed to the front of her face. Fantastic singer and comedienne. Mezzo. PRINCIPAL

VERUCA SALT
Short, youthful ADULT female to play a 9-12 year old girl; Any ethnicity. Vicious and beautiful. Must be an EXCELLENT dancer and/or gymnast, able to dance not only classical ballet, but also tear herself to shreds. Comic actress with a character singing/screaming voice. PRINCIPAL

MR. SALT
Male, 30s-40s; any ethnicity. Veruca’s tall, goofy, eccentric, distracted, hilarious father. Finds it impossible to say no, giving in to every ridiculous demand his daughter makes. Excellent comic actor with a baritone singing voice. PRINCIPAL

VIOLET BEAUREGARD
Short, youthful ADULT female to play a 9-12 year old girl. African-American. While she’s physically tiny, she has a huge pop/R&B voice, as well as amazing hip-hop dance skills. Confident, forward, and full of attitude. Great singer. PRINCIPAL

MR. BEAUREGARD
Male, 30s-40s. African-American. Violet’s ineffectual father. Ignores his back-talking, insult-hurling daughter. Great dancer with a soul/pop/R&B voice. Beat-boxing skills a plus. PRINCIPAL

MIKE TEAVEE
Short, youthful ADULT male to play a 9-12 year old boy; any ethnicity, especially non-Caucasian. A fireplug with a ridiculous amount of energy. Square, powerful, tiny, and terrifying. A voice that cuts through steel. Great singer. PRINCIPAL

MRS. TEAVEE
Female, 30s-40s; any ethnicity. She needs amphetamines to get through the day and deal with her outrageous son. Tense, extreme, and hilarious. Great singer. PRINCIPAL
