San Francisco Bay Area actors preferred.

Preparation
Please prepare 2 songs from the Golden Age of B'way: Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hart, the Gershwins, etc. Sondheim and Jerry Herman are OK. Please no rock musicals or Andrew Lloyd Webber. One classic ballad and one character/comedy song. Please be prepared to sing the entire song.

Breakdown

42nd Street Moon presents intimately produced versions of uncommon musicals, specializing in early to mid-20th Century American Musical Theatre. Our shows are fully staged, with choreography, and small orchestra (often just a single piano.) No amplification is used.

Regular performance schedule: W & Th at 7 pm; F at 8 pm; Sa at 6 pm; Su at 3 pm. One added Saturday Family Matinee at 1 pm in the 2nd week of each run. 2016-17 will be the company's 24th season.

Chris Christie – M, 50 – 60, a large, Swedish man who is light on his feet and ecstatic to reunite with his daughter, Anna. Very protective and somewhat territorial. Character Baritone

Marthy – F, 45 – 55, The brassy live-in friend to Chris. She is a strong, hard-drinking woman. Character Alto

Matt - M, mid 20s to early 30s. Legit lyric baritone. Stoker & sailor. A self-admitted
dummy. Strong, lovesick, stubborn.

Lily – F, 25 – 35. Soprano with belt. A working girl of questionable employment. Streetwise and whip smart..

Larry – M, 40 – 60, Bari. The quintessential old-timey bar owner, always ready to lend a hand and a drink. Fun loving.

Alderman M, 45 – 60 Check Apron Ball host. Nosy, but with a cheery disposition. A joy to be around.

Ensemble – 4 M, 3 F. Late 20, 30s, 40s Must dance

Sue Smith — F, late 40s to late 60s, MUST TAP DANCE. Character alto

Lucille Early — F, late 30s to mid-40s. Sophisticated and sharp, strong alto to midrange. MUST DANCE

Nanette — F, early to mid-20s. Lyric Soprano. Nanette is a protégé of Sue’s. MUST DANCE

Tom Trainor: M, mid 20s to 30ish. Lyric Bari. Lucille’s nephew,Nanette’s beau. Handsome but stuffy. MUST DANCE

Billy Early — M, late 30s to late 40s. A lawyer with the soul of a song-and-dance man. MUST DANCE

Pauline — F, 50s-60s. Cook at the Smiths’, major comedy role, doesn’t sing much
Jimmy Smith — M, 50s- 60s. Character baritone. A wealthy Bible publisher/

Flora Latham from ‘Frisco — F, 20s, Character soprano. Very tall.

Betty Brown from Boston — F, 20s, Mezzo with strong belt

Winnie Winslow from Washington — F, 20s, Legit soprano chops, but also a Comedienne
