Doris Gallippi examines and writes their family history and at the same time imparts social history of first generation Americans who courageously forged a path from Italy to America from 1895 to 1922. This book chronicles "An Extraordinary Journey" (published by Xlibris) of emigrants and their treasured families.

This is the story of two opportunity-seeking pioneers, Antonio Gaetano and Giuseppe Gallippi, who, followed by their wives, forged a path from Italy to America at the turn of the 19th century. It tells their story in the historic context of their times from the village life in Italy's oppressive age to America's progressive age. To narrate the tale effectively, Gallippi placed herself in the footsteps of these first generation Americans as they made their way from the old world to the new.

By telling the early immigrants' stories, Gallippi is able to reveal what emigration means to a family and how emigrants feel when they leave their countries, cultures and families to forge a new path and seek a better life for their children. This book is not just about "An Extraordinary Journey" for it is also about the resilience of the early immigrants as they complete their quest for a new life.

"America is a country of immigrants," Gallippi shares. "This is a story of coming to America and how immigrants adapted to their new country and grew through the generations. The story is intertwined with America's story and has a universality that will be appealing to and broadening for the people who are the descendants of immigrants who live in America today."
