According to the Hollywood Reporter, Philip Seymour Hoffman is in the process of developing a new series for HBO. Entitled, 'Upstate', the show is about 'Roy Perkins, who gets laid-off and then relocates his family to rural America to take a job as a correctional officer in a new privately run for-profit prison,' as described by THR.

The show features a script  by Brett C. Leonard and Bob Glaudini and will be executive produced by Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Emily Ziff and Michael Rosenberg

Hoffman joined the LAByrinth Theater Company in 1995, and has directed and performed in numerous Off-Broadway productions. His performances in two Broadway plays led to two Tony Award nominations: one for Best Leading Actor in True West (2000), and another for Best Featured Actor in Long Day's Journey into Night (2003).
