Netflix has unveiled the ensemble cast for Scooby-Doo: Origins, the highly anticipated origin story for the famed mystery-solving crew and their beloved dog. The series is currently in production in Atlanta, GA and will release globally on Netflix in 2027.

Newly announced cast members include The Pitt star Rusty Schwimmer, Peter Macon (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes), Maxwell Simkins (Shifting Gears), Jona Xiao (The Pitt), Dani Deetté (The Runarounds), Elysée Sanvillé (72 Hours), Alex Isles (Normal with a Capitol N), Avery Kristen Pohl (General Hospital), Pamela Mitchell (1883), Ross Kimball (Jury Duty), Sara Gilbert (The Connors), Wynn Everett (Chad Powers), Sauriyan Sapkota (Midnight Club), Bruce McGill (Lioness) and Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks).

Previously announced cast includes Mckenna Grace as “Daphne Blake,” Tanner Hagen as “Shaggy Rogers,” Abby Ryder Fortson as “Velma Dinkley,” Maxwell Jenkins as “Fred Jones,” and Paul Walter Hauser. The series marks the first time in the Scooby-Doo franchise that the character of Scooby-Doo will be portrayed by a real Great Dane dog.

Scooby-Doo: Origins is a modern reimagining of the fan-favorite animated series.  During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder.

Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.

Midnight Radio's Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg serve as the showrunners, writers, and executive producers on the series, which hails from Warner Bros. Television.

Other executive producers include Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman (via Berlanti Productions and its overall deal with Warner Bros. Television), André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Adrienne Erickson (via Midnight Radio), and Toby Haynes (EP/Episode 101 Director).

For more than 50 years, Scooby-Doo has been a pop culture powerhouse with three theatrical films, more than a dozen animated series, and nearly 40 animated home entertainment movies.
