New York City Opera Partners With La Maison Française at NYU

By: Feb. 10, 2010

This March, New York City Opera revives its colorful production of L'Étoile, the effervescent opéra-bouffe that was the break-out work of Emanuel Chabrier. The 36-year-old composer was already a key figure in Belle-Époque salons, a flamboyant bon vivant who partied with Manet, Degas, Verlaine, and Mallarmé, and wielded huge influence on Ravel, Satie, and Les Six. Join L'Étoile cast members Julie Boulianne, Jean-Paul Fouchécourt, and François Loup, stage director Alain Gauthier, and conductor Emmanuel Plasson for the kind of intimate, fun-filled salon evening of live music and lively repartée that Chabrier himself would be sorry to miss!
