Considered one of the great modern classics of the twentieth century, Arthur Miller’s A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE will open at the Duke of York’s Theatre on 24 January 2009, with a press night on Thursday 5 February 2009.
Last performed in the West End in 1995, this new production will star Ken Stott in the lead role of Eddie Carbone, a head-strong longshoreman raising his wife’s orphaned niece, Catherine. When Eddie’s feelings for Catherine develop from paternal protectiveness to sexual desire, his struggle to contain his emotions leads him on a path of self destruction transforming him from a respected, honourable man to a virtual stranger shamed and broken by his own actions. Intense and raw, Miller’s A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE explores jealousy, betrayal, suspicion and ultimately loss of control. Award-winning actor Ken Stott’s credits span theatre, film and television, most recently in God of Carnage at the Gielgud Theatre, Heroes at the Wyndhams Theatre and The Faith Healer at the Almeida Theatre. Television and film credits include BBC Four’s critically acclaimed Hancock And Joan, the hugely popular Rebus and Messiah drama series as well as Richard Curtis’ award-winning Girl In A Café and Charlie Wilson’s War with Tom Hanks.Videos
