Everyone's favorite bear-that chubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff-comes to life on stage when Columbia Children's Theatre (CCT) presents Disney's Winnie the Pooh KIDS this weekend, February 5-8 with shows Today and Friday at 7:00 pm, Saturday at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, and Sunday at 3:00 pm. General admission tickets are $10 regular admission and $8 for active military and seniors with proper ID. Advance ticket purchases are strongly recommended, and may be purchased securely on-line at columbiachildrenstheatre.com. All shows take place at Columbia Children's Theatre on the second floor of Richland Mall, 3400 Forest Drive in Forest Acres. CCT's 2015 YouTheatre season is sponsored by Staymobile.

Trustus Theatre is bringing a fresh voice in American playwriting to Columbia as they open Tarell Alvin McCraney's In the Red and Brown Water, part one of a trilogy called The Brother/Sister Plays. This play is likened to a choreopoem where poetry, prose, music, and movement come together to tell a story. This unique script and ambitious production will open on the Thigpen Main Stage tonight, January 23rd at 8:00pm. The show will run through Saturday, February 7th, 2015.

Spoleto Festival USA Announces 2015 Season: May 22–June 7

Festival General Director Nigel Redden has today announced the program for the 39th annual Spoleto Festival USA, taking place May 22 through June 7, 2015. Held in Charleston, South Carolina, the Festival includes the world premiere of the opera Paradise Interrupted composed by Huang Ruo and designed and directed by visual artist Jennifer Wen Ma, the American premiere and first performances in over 350 years of Francesco Cavalli's baroque opera Veremonda, l'amazzone di Aragona, and the first US performances of a new production of Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare's Globe directed by the company's Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole and Tim Hoare.
