Pegi Young & The Survivors will appear on Late Show with David Letterman tonight, January 30th before they head out on a string of tour dates, including four shows in support of 10,000 Maniacs. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame Committee has selected a distinguished group of television innovators and icons to be inducted into the 22nd Hall of Fame. Additionally, for the first time ever, this year's Hall of Fame ceremony will benefit the Television Academy Foundation's Archive of American Television.

Today we are talking to a versatile performer first known to the world at large through her iconic early-career movie theme recordings - singing the Oscar-winning 'The Morning After' from THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE, as well as the classic themes from THE TOWERING INFERNO, SUPERMAN and musical material and a memorable musical moment in AIRPLANE!; in addition to her many full-length studio albums later in life - who then emerged as a compelling theatrical performer with a string of roles on Broadway, Off Broadway and in regional theater - a replacement star of NINE, as well as THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, as well as original cast member of 1989's THE 3 PENNY OPERA, 1984's premire production of BROWNSTONE, and, most recently, a Broadway featured cast member in LITTLE WOMEN - the radiant and vocally resplendent Maureen McGovern. On the final Sunday in September, I visited The Country Playhouse and got a backstage glimpse into the undertakings on their main stage for FRANKENSTEIN. The set are incomplete, but coming along nicely. The cast has been rehearsing hard, and everything is being put through the paces to ensure that the show is nothing short of a success. I got the chance to speak with Phil Nichols, who is directing the show in addition to designing the FX make-up, Louis Crespo, starring as Victor Frankenstein, and Melissa Nichols who is designing the sets and choreographing the massive and complex set changes.

Diana Landis, a noted conductor and music educator, has been appointed director of Los Angeles Children's Chorus' (LACC) Apprentice Choir. LACC Artistic Director Anne Tomlinson announced her appointment, which marks Landis' return to the chorus after a 10-year absence during which time she taught music in various capacities in Orange County. She replaces Larissa Donnelly, who relocated with her family to Texas.
