Diversionary Theatre Premieres SEXTET, 9/30-10/4

What do Walt Whitman, the rapture, and a gay bath house all have in common? Those are among the unusual subjects explored in the new gay opera Sextet, with music and libretto by San Diego composer Nicolas Reveles. Sextet sheds light on various aspects of gay desire: for community, for power, for acceptance, for family, for sex and for love. Diversionary Theatre will produce the world premiere of this new gay opera as part of its Queer Theatre-Taking Center Stage program, underwritten in part by The James Irvine Foundation. Sextet will be presented for only four performances between September 30-October 4.

The 2006 hit production The Fortune Teller from HERE's The OBIE award-winning HERE is thrilled to present an encore staging of the 2006 Dream Music Puppetry Program hit production The Fortune Teller. This marionette play in miniature is created and directed by Erik Sanko and Jessica Grindstaff, and features original music by Danny Elfman and Erik Sanko and narration by Gavin Friday. Set to play October 28 - December 4 at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue), this production will have its Official Opening on Sunday, October 31st (Halloween) at 9:00 PM.

Fonda, Lithgow, Dukakis Set for Plays at Mark Taper Forum

The 2011 Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum season was announced today by Center Theatre Group Artistic Director Michael Ritchie. Stellar actors such as Jane Fonda, John Lithgow and Olympia Dukakis will be featured in plays by Moisés Kaufman, John Lithgow and Morris Panych, respectively, plus works by Lanford Wilson and Theresa Rebeck will be presented in the Taper's 44th season at the Los Angeles Music Center.

A Noise Within (ANW) concludes its 2009-10 season with celebrated Irish playwright JOHN MILLINGTON SYNGE's THE PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD directed by Co-Founder/Co-Artistic Director Geoff Elliott, which opens Saturday, April 17 and closes Saturday, May 22, 2010 (previews begin Saturday, April 10). Ms. Redgrave appeared on the Paper Mill Playhouse stage in The Importance of Being Earnest in early 2009 and has remained close with the Millburn theater until her passing. Ms. Redgrave is to be honored at Paper Mill Playhouse's Gala Event on Wednesday, May 12th at The Hilton Short Hills.
