Sacha Wares will be returning to Almeida Theatre to direct the world premiere of Leo Butler's new play Boy, after her directorial success with the critically acclaimed production, Game, by Mike Bartlett, in 2015. Boy will run at the Almeida Theatre from 5 April until 28 May 2016, with press night on 12 April 2016. Director Sacha Wares is joined by a formidable creative team, including two powerhouse contemporary designers, Miriam Buether for set design (Wild Swans, Sucker Punch, My Child, Generations), who worked with Sacha on Game at the Almeida in 2015, and Ultz for costume (Jerusalem, Hobson's Choice, Fallout, Pied Pier), who will be collaborating with Miriam, on design, for the very first time. Further creative credits include movement by Leon Baugh, lighting by Jack Knowles and sound by Gareth Fry.
CHICAGO, IL (October 5, 2015)-3Arts is honored to announce the ten recipients of its 8th annual 3Arts Awards, presented to women artists, artists of color, and artists with disabilities working in the performing, teaching, and visual arts. The 2015 recipients are: dancer Kris Lenzo and choreographer Stephanie Martinez; vocalist Frank Waln and instrumentalist Chihsuan Yang; teaching artists Benji Hart and Chris Silva; actors Allen Gilmore and Fawzia Mirza; and visual artists Cheryl Pope and Fo Wilson. 3Arts Awards honorees each receive an unrestricted $25,000 award to put to use according to their individual needs and priorities. To date, the Chicago-based, nonprofit granting organization 3Arts has awarded over $1.5 million in total grants to more than 100 Chicago artists in the past eight years.

New Century Theatre Company (NCTC) has announced its dynamic 2015 season will include 2014 Pulitzer Prize-winner The Flick by Annie Baker and the powerhouse family drama Festen by David Eldridge. The Flick will be directed by NCTC Company Member MJ Sieber, who directed David Mamet's The Water Engine at Strawberry Theatre Workshop in 2007. Festen will be directed by Wilson Milam, who has directed for Seattle Repertory Theatre (God of Carnage, Glengarry Glen Ross) and was nominated for a Tony Award for his direction of the 2006 production of Martin McDonagh's The Lieutenant of Inishmore on Broadway.

Steep Theatre's upcoming Midwest Premiere of Nick Payne's If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet will feature an exceptionally talented group of Chicago artists, including two Steep Company Members (Peter Moore and Cynthia Marker), a Columbia College student (Caitlin Looney), and an actor most recently seen on stage at the Goodman (Shane Kenyon). If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet opens at Steep Theatre on Friday, April 18, and will be directed by Steep Artistic Associate Jonathan Berry.

The Old Globe today announced that the San Diego Premiere of the crime classic Double Indemnity will receive an additional week of performances and will now run through Sept. 1. The production begins previews on July 27 and was originally set to close on Aug. 25. Opening night is Aug. 1. Double Indemnity is adapted by David Pichette and R. Hamilton Wright from the book by James M. Cain and is directed by John Gould Rubin. Tickets for the extension week are currently available to subscribers only and will go on sale to the public on Friday, July 26 at 12 noon.
