Aladdin is a soaring magic carpet ride through Agrabah, the City of Enchantment. In the heart of the city lives a street urchin named Aladdin whose whole life changes when he discovers a magic lamp and unleashes a fun-loving, larger-than-life Genie who grants him three wishes. Aladdin sees this as his opportunity to be with the beautiful, free-spirited Princess Jasmine, who is only allowed to marry a prince. When the evil Jafar steals the lamp and tries to get the three wishes for himself, Aladdin must find a way to save the kingdom. Through his adventures, Aladdin learns that he is a prince where it truly matters most -- on the inside. With music and lyrics by Jay Kuo (Insignificant Others, Worlds Apart) and book by Kuo and Thione, 'Allegiance' is a family drama that explores love, loss and heroism during the Japanese American confinement in 1942 of approximately 110,000 Japanese nationals and Japanese Americans in no more than 465 cramped barracks in Wyoming. The musical received a staged reading in February of last year, and eyes heading to Broadway in the near future.
