The Idea Fund, a re-granting program administered by DiverseWorks, Aurora Picture Show, and Project Row Houses and funded by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, has announced the selection of 12 projects by Houston-based artists to receive $5,000 each for The Idea Fund’s Round 14 (2021) grant cycle.

Bruce Lemon, Jr. Artistic Director of Watts Village Theater Company (WVTC), joins the Why Dream in Inglewood? project, taking on the pivotal role of Chia Yu-tsun and others in Henry Ong's epic six-hour stage adaptation of the Chinese beloved classic, 'Dream of the Red Chamber.' The play will be performed at the Inglewood Amphitheater in Edward Vincent Jr Park, behind the Agree Playhouse, 714 Warren Land, Inglewood, in April and May. The project is made possible by the City of Inglewood and its Growing Artists Performed Projects (IGAPP) Initiative that exposes Inglewood audiences to the practices of contemporary artists and supports the work and growth of artists.

Performed with striking theatricality by the OBIE-award winning Talking Band, The Room Sings, uses an array of genres to tell the stories of four interlocking sets of people. As their individual stories unfold they intertwine and illuminate each other.
