Linda Marlowe Productions in association with Moya Productions presents BERKOFF'S WOMEN, THU 21 - SAT 23 FEB, 8PM.
Out of her unique association with 'father of British physical theatre' Steven Berkoff, Linda Marlowe presents the multi-award-winning BERKOFF'S WOMEN as part of Tron Theatre's 2019 Spring Summer season.
Written by Steven Berkoff and directed by Josie Lawrence, BERKOFF'S WOMEN is a theatrical exploration of sensuality, revenge, pathos, heart-breaking loneliness and riotous humour. Australian-born British film, theatre and television actress Linda Marlowe has been referred to as 'Berkoff's muse' by a number of critics, having worked with him for over 20 years. After a significant film, TV and directing career dating back to the 1960s, Marlowe has most recently created and performed in several one woman shows.
BERKOFF'S WOMEN features selected excerpts from plays such as Decadence and From My Point of View, a poignant short story about an ageing woman left on the shelf. Revenge and tragedy prevail as Clytemnestra in Agamemnon avenges her husband's murder of their child and The Sphinx from Greek decimates men for their collusion, killing and rape, eulogising women as superior beings. From hilarious, sexy stories to heart-breaking poignancy, these are just some of the highlights of Berkoff's writing to be brought to life once again by Marlowe.
Speaking to the BBC in 2006 Marlowe said:
"In Berkoff's Women, it's such a mixture of different types of women; some of them are absolute horrors and some of them are really vulnerable... I do find a chance to put some of myself in the pieces, mainly with the more vulnerable pieces."
