Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2014 Presents AN AFTERNOON WITH DAME DIANA RIGG: NO TURN UNSTONED

By:

A history and anecdotes of life in the theatre, AN AFTERNOON WITH DAME DIANA RIGG: NO TURN UNSTONED will be presented as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2014.

The event will be performed at Assembly Checkpoint (Venue 322) from the 14th-24th of August, 2014 at 1.20pm (2.35pm). For more information, call the box office at 0131 623 3030 or visit www.edfringe.com or www.assemblyfestivals.co.uk.

This performance is a scholarly, insightful and highly entertaining reflection of the worst-ever theatrical reviews in history and a celebration of the actors who survive.

Hear stories from Dame Diana Rigg's many friends in theatre and film and a history of theatre criticism with reviews from as far back as Ancient Greece.

No Turn Unstoned is based on Dame Diana's best-selling book of the same name which was published in 1982. The book was a result of a savage review from John Simon - Film and theatre critic for New York Magazine - for her performance in Abelard and Heloise (a performance for which she was also nominated for a Tony Award). This inspired her to put together a collection of devastating theatrical reviews both from friends in the industry and throughout the history of performance.

The show will be followed by a question and answer session.

Dame Diana's career encompasses theatre, stage and film with notable roles in The Avengers, On Her Majesty's Secret Service and The Game of Thrones.

She has received many awards for her work including The London Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Actress for her performances in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Mother Courage and a Tony Award for Best Actress for her performance in the title role of Medea.

Dame Diana was made Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in June 1994 for her contributions to theatre and film.

All proceeds from the season will be reinvested into a future theatre production for the next generation of actors.
