EDINBURGH 2016 - Review: COLIN CLOUD: EXPOSE, Underbelly Med Quad, 11 August

By:

Colin Cloud, the self-confessed psychic cynic from Scotland, is a showman on the rise. From an almost unknown, he has gained a global following online from his appearances on shows like This Morning. His third Edinburgh Fringe show Exposé is a mind-bending adventure, with tricks to leave even the biggest sceptic baffled.

When you enter the theatre, you instantly leave your self-control unknowingly at the door. Using various methods to find Audience members at 'random', trick after trick build to the crescendo of jaws hitting the floor.

Audience participation is a given part of every show at the Fringe and beyond today. And in some you might try avoid eye contact, or sit in the back row, but this show is a definite exception. After watching Colin grasp the thoughts of those in front of him at the click of his fingers, even though it feels like you have no say in the matter, you are willing yourself to be picked - just to have the impossible confirmed as possible. Though it is human nature to want answers and explanations, the mystery of the unknown is addictive.

His confidence, showmanship and skill is difficult to fault, but a stronger, more original theme or higher production budget would make this easily a five-star international-worthy showcase. For someone ready for the stages of Vegas, the night does not feel unique to his gifts, or leave a bold signature. His comedic timing though is faultless, and will have you giggling between gasps.

A gifted Glaswegian with an ability to capture the attention and minds of a crowd, before they even know it. A name to remember and an act to see, while you can, this intimately, Colin Cloud: Exposé will add at tingle of magic and mystique to your evening.

Colin Cloud: Exposé runs Underbelly Med Quad until 28 August
