Citizens Theatre Announces Christmas Show Sponsorship From Urban Union

By:

The Citizens Theatre has confirmed sponsorship for their 2018 Christmas show, A Christmas Carol, from Urban Union, the company behind the Laurieston Living regeneration project.

While temporarily presenting work at Tramway during the extensive refurbishment of their Gorbals home, the Citizens Theatre is delighted to be working with Urban Union to ensure this hit show can be remounted for Christmas 2018 and reach a diverse range of audiences and groups during its five week run.

Urban Union previously sponsored the Citizens Theatre's production of Trainspotting in 2017.

Artistic Director of the Citizens Theatre and Director of A Christmas Carol, Dominic Hill, commented: "Audiences consistently tell us that they adored A Christmas Carol and would like to see it back in our programme. So I'm delighted to be refreshing this festive favourite which captures the original spirit of the Dickens' tale and, with Urban Union's generous support, offers an inventive and heart-warming alternative family Christmas show that will appeal to all ages."

Urban Union is a joint venture company that regenerates urban areas across Scotland. Founded in 2011, it creates revitalised communities through building new, high quality, affordable homes, including the Laurieston Living development in the Gorbals area of Glasgow.

Kirsty Robertson, Sales and Marketing Manager at Urban Union, said: "At Urban Union, we are committed to supporting arts in the local community. With work starting on our Pollokshaws Living development this summer, we wanted to show our support to groups in the area as we know how important local events like this are in building a strong community spirit.

The company's execution of Trainspotting last year was brilliant and we have no doubt that A Christmas Carol will be a huge success. We wish the cast the best of luck with their rehearsals and can't wait to see the performance come opening night."

Each of their projects is meticulously designed with the local community at the forefront, delivering sustainable long-term benefits to the new, as well as surrounding neighbourhoods. Job and training opportunities are also offered that ensure the community will continue to benefit from these projects for years to come.

A Christmas Carol will be presented at Tramway from Tue 4 Dec - Sun 6 Jan.
