Briefs Factory Presents HOT BROWN HONEY at Edinburgh Fringe

By:

Hot Brown Honey has been cooking up a storm. This Summer, the heat goes up a notch as the show on everyone's lips is served up at The Edinburgh Fringe. Piping hot, complete with lashings of sass and a scorching pinch of empowerment, this dish is seriously hot! Teaming up with the infamous Briefs Factory, these Honeys fly straight from Sydney Opera House in a bid to blow the roof off Assembly Roxy and leave Roxburgh Place smouldering. The Hive is buzzing with the arrival of Hot Brown Honey!

Hot Brown Honey packs a potent punch of Hip Hop politics, dance, poetry, comedy, circus, striptease and song. With their own brand of fierceness, these sexy, sassy, stylish six women boldly shatter preconceptions in an explosion of colour, culture and controversy.

FIGHTING THE POWER NEVER TASTED SO SWEET!

Set in a dazzling beehive with lighting, music and costume to rival Beyonce at Madison Square Gardens, Hot Brown Honey goes above and beyond all expectations as it pushes boundaries and defies labels. Equal parts theatrical spectacular to equal parts social activism - a stellar posse of phenomenal women smash stereotypes in a daring celebration of our similarities and differences.

"... brilliant mashup of music, dance and burlesque, all the while challenging your perceptions of gender, colour and privilege." Rip It Up

"If you want to see what the world is like when women are truly powerful then go to this." The Clothesline

"a lesson in race politics, a massive turn on and a comedic romp..." Bryonny Kimmings.

With a truly eclectic crew, Hot Brown Honey makes taking down the master's house with the master's tools look easy. Featuring South African born Busty Beatz as the Musical Director and the Queen Bee, Samoan Australian Director, designer and firecracker performer Lisa Fa'alafi, Togan soul-singer, storyteller and visual artist Ofa Fotu, Australia and New Zealand's most renowned female beatboxer, Maori artist Hope 'Hope One' Haami, Proud Indigenous Australian dancer JuAnita Duncan and Crystal Stacey of Indonesian decent and whose credits include acclaimed circus company Circa. Hot Brown Honey is a melting pot of ambrosia, dead set on calling out the patriarchy, smashing stereotypes and having a riotous time doing it.
