BBC New Comedy Finalist Jacob Hawley Presents Debut Show At Edinburgh Festival Fringe Image

2017's BBC New Comedy Finalist Jacob Hawley (as seen on BBC iPlayer and heard on BBC Radio 4) is set to perform his debut solo hour, Howl, at Just The Tonic, The Attic at 3:40pm throughout Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

As a recent immigrant from his small hometown to London, complete with an arts degree and a vegetarian girlfriend, Jacob is coming to terms with his status as a political outsider - alienated both from the metropolitan left who seem to hold his working-class peers in barely-disguised contempt, and the traditionalist family and friends who see his new life as a grasp above his station. Howl is a story of what social mobility means in Britain today, and how the forces of politics and family can pull us together and apart, also with jokes.

Jacob has written short films showcased on BBC Three, and his work with UniLad has reached more than 3.5 million viewers. He has rapidly generated interest as one of the boldest new voices on the circuit with his astute observations and political passion.

BBC's Top Ten Gag's from Edinburgh chose one of his jokes to make the selection from his first foray into the Edinburgh Fringe circuit with the 40 minute show Fruit Machine, to packed rooms and great acclaim. He regularly performs at some of the biggest and best clubs in the country and has won King Gong at London's Comedy Store.
