The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre's Gamm Summer Intensive (GSI) is pleased to present a weekend of student-produced and -acted Shakespeare plays, composed of 3 performances each of As You Like It and Macbeth from tonight, July 18 through July 21. This pairing of a favorite comedy with a famous tragedy is the culmination of a 4-week "extreme" theater training camp for high-school students from Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

"Macbeth and As You Like It were both published in 1623, two vastly different plays written by the same man and made accessible to the world in the same year," Gamm Education Director Steve Kidd said. "This summer's company of 25 young actors has been working tirelessly to bring to life the dark and bloodyMacbeth and the airy and lighthearted As You Like It in rep over this long summer weekend."

As You Like It, set in a wooded campsite, features music, song, playful fights, and tons of laughs.Macbeth, on the other hand, sustains an eerie and sinister atmosphere throughout, enhanced by the casting of nine witches in numerous scenes, rather than the traditional three. All GSI students appear in both plays, explained Kidd, who is directing Macbeth. Gamm Education and Outreach Coordinator Susie Schutt is directing As You Like It.

Performances of Macbeth and As You Like It take place at The Gamm Theatre, 172 Exchange St., Pawtucket, RI. Tickets to individual shows are $10 for adults and $8 for students. Tickets to both shows are available at the discounted price of $15 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the box office, by phone at (401) 723-4266, or at the door an hour prior to each performance. The Box Office is open weekdays from 10am to 5pm.
