Sonorous Road Theatre Presents EMILIE: LA MARQUISE DU CHATELET DEFENDS HER LIFE TONIGHT

Sonorous Road Repertory, the in-residence professional theatre company at Sonorous Road Theatre, brings the critically acclaimed EMILIE: La Marquise du Chatelet Defends Her Life Tonight, by Sarah Gunderson, to the Triangle opening Friday, March 29th through Sunday, April 14th, 2019.

Lauren Gunderson currently stands as the most produced playwright in the US and her work focuses heavily on female figures in history, science, and literature. EMILIE was originally commissioned by South Coast Repertory as part of their 2008 Pacific Playwrights Festival and had its international premiere in 2014. The play draws on the life of historical figure E milie du Cha telet and her time known for being both Voltaire's lover and eventually as a renowned scientist.

The show features local actors Michelle Murray Wells (Executive Director of Sonorous Road Repertory) as Emile, Samantha J. Matthews as Soubrette, A.C. Donohue as Madam, Justin Johnson as Gentleman, as well as visiting equity actor Sterling Hurst as Voltaire.
